Learn to Knit

This online knitting class is perfect for absolute beginners or those who have learned before and want a refresher! Over two sessions of 2 hours each, we will cover the basics of knitting.
In the first session we will learn how to cast on, do the knit stitch and cast off. We will talk about pattern reading, yarn ball-band information and needle selection.
Between classes the student has some knitting practice to do. A pattern for a washcloth is included in the first session's documents.
In the second session we will learn how to do the purl stitch, the companion stitch to the knit. Used in the same row with knit stitches there are many different textures that can be made, we will explore several way to combine them in class. You will have access to several dishcloth patterns that feature the different stitch patterns that we cover for after the class.

Learning Outcomes: after taking this class you will confidently be able to start and finish projects that are worked flat, knit, purl and read patterns.

Required Skills: None! This class is perfect for absolute beginners.

Required Materials: 4.5mm needles, 100g dishcloth cotton, and a darning needle. These materials are *NOT* included with the price of the class and must be purchased separately before the class starts.
