This class is perfect for people new to crochet or if you are looking to refresh your crochet knowledge after some time away. Over two sessions of 2 hours each, we will cover the basics of crochet.
In the first session we will learn how to make several stitches: the chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet. We will talk about pattern reading, yarn ball-band information and hook selection.
Between classes the student has some crochet practice to do. A pattern for a soap saver bag is included in the first week's documents.
In the second session we will complete the bag that was begun for homework and learn some more stitches: slip stitch, half-double crochet, and triple crochet. In class we will learn with a swatch (a practice piece), and a pattern for a cowl or scarf is included with the class for continued practice of the stitches we have learned in the classes.
Learning Outcomes: after taking this class you will confidently be able to start and finish projects that are worked flat (back and forth), chain stitch, slip stitch, single, half-double, double and triple crochet.
