Magic loop is a knitting technique where a long circular needle is used to replace double pointed needles for small circumference knitting. This can be used in many projects such as sleeves, socks, hat decreases, stuffed animals and much more.
Before the class, the student will cast on and knit a hat up to the point where they would need to switch to double pointed needles. The hat pattern is included in the class cost.
We will start by moving our stitches from the 6.5mm 16″ circular needle onto the 32″ circular needle and learn how to divide our stitches and work in the magic loop method. Together we will finish our hats like this.
After we have finished the hats and gotten a sense of how the magic loop works, we will learn how to cast on and begin a project, a cup cozy, with the remaining yarn from the hat, or other scrap yarn.

Learning Outcomes: to be able to cast on and work small circumference knitting projects on long circular needles.

Required Skills: comfortable with knitting in the round on double pointed needles as well as circular needles.
