In this class you will knit your first sock with double pointed needles (DPNs) from the cuff down to the toe!
The first session will focus on making a mini sock to create a road map of where we are going in thicker yarn, this way it will be quicker to get and idea of all the steps. Then we will cast on and begin our full sized sock. Between sessions students will be required to knit the leg portion.
In the second session we will turn the heel together and begin knitting the foot. Before the final session of the class, students will knit the foot, and be ready to cast off. In our final session together we will learn the Kitchener stitch, a method of seamlessly casting off our stitches. After finishing the first sock we will immediately cast on to begin the second sock, this is a crucial step in sock knitting to avoid the dreaded second sock syndrome (where your second sock never ever gets knit).

Learning Outcomes: you will have completed one full sock and have all the pieces you need to finish your first pair of socks!

Required Skills: confident knitting in the round on double pointed needles.

Required Materials: for the mini sock: ~20g dk weight yarn (scrap is good) and 3.75mm double pointed needles (3.5mm or 4mm works too, I want you to use what you have available to you!)
for the full sized sock: 100g of sock/fingering weight yarn with some nylon content (80/20 or 75/25 wool/nylon), 2.5mm double pointed needles, stitch markers, darning needle.
These materials are *NOT* included with the price of the class and must be purchased separately before the class starts.
